All valid points, especially if the price stays high on Assassination Blade.Ok, so I've done the math...
With 2x https://classic.wowhead.com/item=13036/assassination-blade as a hunter you get 2% crit ( str doesn't matter since it's only melee ap).
if you add 2x +15 agi enchant, you get + 30 agi which means now you have 2.56% crit + 60 ap (+some armor and dodge but not really directly affecting your dps performance).
With https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18520/barbarous-blade which most of us currently have, you get 1% crit + 60 ap.
If you add 1x +15 agi enchant, you now have 1.28% crit + 90 ap.
So it comes down to 2.56% crit + 60 ap VS 1.28% crit + 90 ap // 1.28% crit vs 30ap // it's clearly an improvement, but at what cost?
2x https://classic.wowhead.com/item=13036/assassination-blade + the 2x enchants cost about 300g (blades) + 200g (enchants) = 500g
Is it worth spending 400g (100g difference from only buying 1x +15 agi enchant for barb blade) for 1.28% crit vs 30ap?
https://classic.wowhead.com/item=13036/assassination-blade is not even a pre-bis either.
What you guys think? For me, personally, I think I should just enchant my barb blade with +15 agi for now.
You could always try and replace one or more Assassination Blade with something else though? It might even work out better. (btw the following is based off some un-verified hunter stat weights I found online of 1 crit ~= 29AP, 1 agi ~= 2.8AP):
- I would maybe try and look out for a green weapon; +11/12 agi is possible on green 1h weapons.
- A blue world drop called item=12527 can roll for Agi, or Monkey/Tiger/Wolf - if you can find one on the AH it's better than greens or Assassination Blade.
- Strat UD has two 1h weapons plausibly better than Assassination Blade - item=13368 and item=18737.
Food for thought, hopefully can make the switch a bit more viable and/or cost-effective?
Edit: spell=16970 is a viable potentially cheaper version of Assasination Blade if you can find a blacksmith with the plans?
