QUESTIONS

1.
What is your primary motivation for applying to Cyrus for WoW Classic?
Having read your history, and seeing your players in game I am aware you are a keen, experienced and helpful group of players, so far anyway. Also, I have always praised the way some of your members have performed their roles when grouped with me, I definitely recognise 'Cyrus' as a mark of quality over a character's name bar.
I'd obviously like to be a part of this, but also, maybe I will be able to learn, gain some nurturing and training, and feel like a valuable part of the team.
I am willing to work, donate, ah/gold farm for the guild. In Legion I donated 400,000 gold to my guild to keep the bank afloat and support the raid, provided most flasks and potions for all raids etc. So far in classic I have 300 cooking, my epic mount when I dinged 60, and I'm hit capped, I can and will be efficient but I like to feel valued.

2. In which order would you prioritise the following within a guild, and why: PvE Raid Progression, Organised PvP, Active and Social Community.
I think all of the items depend on which state we're in, in the game. This being purely because of preparation and availability of content. Having fun and gaining an image I think is earnt after the hard work is put in.
So...
1-Active and Social Community. This is always the most important thing. The ability to ask, be answered, gain support and have support is key to this game. You can't achieve and grow in Classic, without the support of a team.
2-PvE Raid Progression. This needs to be the next most important thing, 2 reasons. One, we need the gear to be strong enough, confident enough and prepared enough to take on the PvP challenge and succeed. Two, This aids point 1, going through challenges and working out mechanics together makes people grow fonder, stronger, and more confident with each other.
3-Organised PvP. I see this as the reward for the hard work and togetherness of the above. Who doesn't want a reward for their hard work?

3. Which role(s) best describes where you would fit in with us?
Casual Raider

4. Please select the days / times that you are able to commit to on a very regular basis
Wednesday: 19:20 - 00:00, Saturday: 19:20 - 00:00, Sunday: 19:20 - 00:00

5. Which main class are you playing?
Rogue

6. Which group role do you prefer to play?
DPS

7. Which character race have you chosen, and why?
I have chosen to be a female Human. A female due to preferring to look at a lady-but, not a man-but for hours on end, and human due to the sword and mace specialisation.
I have chosen rogue for WoW classic, the main reason that I have never 'mained' a rogue, or indeed a melee DPS class. I was aware there would be loot competition, competition for raid spots, challenges in the levelling and grinding process, but that's OK. I was prepared for it, and enjoyed levelling.

8. Which professions have you trained, and what level are they?
I am currently 300 Cooking, 300 Skinning, 300 Herbalism, 300 First aid, 175 Fishing. I am going to re-roll into a crafting profession (or 2), and am happy to take direction from the guild in which they would need.

9. Tell us one of your favourite memories from a previous guild experience.
My very favourite memory is on YouTube! Guild first Iron Council, Ulduar. Kink guild.
I was the only healer left alive in a 25 man raid (Paladin), about 3 minutes in, none of the council had been downed before all the other healers died. I remember distinctly our raid leader 'Smarties' yelling 'where's the f***king healing' to which I responded, quite calmly 'errrrrrrm, I think I'm the only one left alive, it certainly feels like it...'. With this being a movement intensive fight, and being a paladin..... All the guild members yelled 'Come on Bobeeeee' down discord, awesome. We did it, barely. But yes, I passed my trial after that raid.
On a side note I was a little odd in Wrath as I had the unbridled will to just stack Intellect, everyone thought I was mad! It boosts crit, mana regen, I had the darkmoon trinket, and the BE racial, so it make sense and I never ran out of mana. I remember one of the mages prior to that fight saying 'I think my UI is broken, it has Bobee at 42k mana, almost double mine'. The response 'Nope, that seems about right to me' got laughs from the guild, but not running out of mana and always topping the meters certainly said another story.
More recently I raided in Wrath as a mage...my 4th level 110 character. I didn't enjoy the Paladin as much with the new mechanics, I levelled a Warlock which I found dead boring, I levelled a Demon Hunter which I was dungeon running on, and I got head hunted by a raiding guild-cool. I joined and they said they wanted a DPS pally to raid, so I re-logged (surprise from guild) and FAILED, I sucked. After the raid I asked what they really wanted? To which they said 'mage'. I then levelled a mage from 80 to 110 in around 4 days, was raiding with them on the Sunday. A week of theory crafting later I was topping damage meters throughout legion, great fun. I also got the hang of playing the ah in this expansion, getting my first 1,000,000 gold. That was good! Then I gave it to my guild, and I stopped playing after Gul'Dan, mainly due to moving house and changing jobs. I still go the 'ahead of the curve' awards as well for Emerald Nightmare and Nightwell.

10. You may be invited to our Discord for a short chat to discuss your application. Are you happy to do this?
Yes

11. Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?
I work as a General Manager in a hotel, and I have a wife and 3 boys. My real-life commitments make it very hard for me to be online before 8-8.30pm on a daily basis. My children go to bed at 7.30pm and I make an effort to take them whenever I'm at home. My working shifts include Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evening until 10pm from November 4th, and I have a 'date-night' with my wife on a Friday night.
My current playing hours are a little more regular, being able to log in nearly every evening, other than Thursday, my date night (but can be online later).
When I am online I'm on until 1am (all above is GMT), I'm happy to stay longer if doing content etc. For example in my current guild, The Expendables I ran BRD until 3am trying to help people do the 'prison break' quest.
So, I'd love to raid. Feel valued, get better but I do have considerable real life responsibilities. I'd hope you agree they are considerable and worth investing time into.
When I say I'll be there, I'll be there. If for some reason I'm not I will always communicate why as early as possible, and it doesn't happen often.
A current note on my progression. I am over-hit capped (10%), and I made a mistake-selling my Thrash blade :(. I need DM East, North for another ring, West. UBRS, and LBRS for pre BiS. I have played my paladin the past couple of days (only lvl 14, new) as I got so frustrated on Thursday, even my guild were looking for 'DPS UBRS' and wouldn't take me as a rogue. I also have the Onyxia quest, ready to go and complete. Solod the MC atonement weeks ago, just never invited. Looking at getting the Shadowcraft set to try out the 6 set bonus and reduce the hit a bit. 'Metagoblin' recons only 6% is needed, and I'd like to try that out. I just don't have the inter-changeable gear at the moment.
The most important thing for me is to feel like a part of a team, my personal gain isn't my main objective. But logging and struggling for group content-just for myself isn't what I started playing Classic for.
Many thanks for your consideration,

Very nice application!
Good luck!

Edit: Regarding your Thrash blade, look into item restoration. Works every 15 days and will restore anything you destroyed/sold.

Welcome Bóbee, and thanks for taking the time to post your application.

The most important thing for you is to feel part of a team, and this is where I am struggling. As you may have seen, we are not one of those guilds that just spam-invites people to have a large guild. Every member we recruit, especially so for raiding, has a role to fill within the guild and we ask for a certain level of commitment from them in return for the same from us. And so this is where we find it very difficult to really find a home for people with irregular availability such as yours.

It seems that with the hours you are available to play, you would be far better served by a weekend raiding guild. You cannot make our start time, and while we are mainly raiding on Wednesdays for now, we expect the schedule to increase in the future so we are ensuring all our raiders can commit to a fuller schedule.

So yes, I do agree that your real-life commitments are absolutely more important than our gaming hobby, but that's no reason not to look to get the best of both worlds. And with so many guilds out there, and so many players, we really want to make sure we recruit the ones that are the right fit for us both.

I wish you all the best, and I hope you'll find what you are looking for. I'm sorry it doesn't appear to be us, as with the right schedule you would no doubt have been quite the asset :)

Hi Redh,
Thank you for taking the time to respond, and I wish you all the best in you and your team's progress.
See you round some time, probably.
